Your bathroom is one of the most important rooms in your house, so it’s important to keep it clean and well-maintained. Here is a cleaning guide to bathroom home care and maintenance of tile, grout, and caulk.

Tile

Tile is a durable and easy-to-clean flooring material, but it still requires some care and maintenance. Remember to regularly sweep and mop your bathroom floors as this will prevent a buildup of dirt and grime.

  1. First, give your tile floor a quick sweep to pick up any loose dirt and debris.
  2. Use mild detergent and water to mop the floors. You can also use a specifically designed tile cleaner but be sure to read the labels carefully to ensure that it is compatible with your tile.
  3.  Wipe up any excess water/soap so no one slips and falls!

Grout

There are two main types of grout: Cement-based grout should be sealed after it is installed. Epoxy-based grout does not need to be sealed

If you are looking for easy-to-care-for tile grout, epoxy-based grout is the best option. But if you are looking for a more traditional look, cement-based grout is a good choice. Either way, be sure to follow the care instructions to keep your tile and grout in good condition.

  1. Grout can be easily cleaned by mixing one bleach with ten parts water.
  2. Then apply the solution to the grout with a sponge or brush and scrub until the dirt is removed, be sure to wear gloves when handling bleach and double-check that any other cleaning products you are using do not contain ammonia.
  3. Rinse the area with clean water and then allow it to air dry.
  4. You can find many different grout-specific cleaners at your local hardware store if you are wanting to avoid making your own solution.

Caulk

Caulk is used to seal the gaps between tiles and prevent water from seeping through. Over time, caulk can become moldy or cracked, so it’s important to check it regularly and replace it as needed. To remove the old caulk, use a utility knife or putty knife to score the caulk, then use a caulk remover to loosen it. Apply new caulk using a caulk gun. Caulk can be easily cleaned with any bathroom cleaner and a wet sponge.

With these simple tips, you can keep your bathroom looking its best. Regular cleaning and maintenance will extend the life of your bathroom fixtures and make it a more enjoyable space for you and your family.
